Hello there!
Welcome back to the Esthetician’s Corner where we are going to talk about everything to do with esthetics as a business! Today’s topic is going to be one of great value and importance for anyone working in the skin care, nail salon, or hair beauty business as we’re going to take a look at some different resources for you to refer to and stay up to date on current trends, new products and research (including what’s happening internationally). Each of these resources is actually quite different and I’m going to recommend them to you for different reasons, the last one might actually surprise you! The reason why is even more interesting… read on ;)
First up is one of my favorite websites to scour as this is where I find a lot of actual professional research being done and published. Most of what they look at is based on the European beauty markets but they do publish articles for the Asian & North American cosmetics & fragrances markets as well. What I really love about them is the fact that they post well researched topics with professional studies done by various doctors, spa & cosmetics consulting firms and the large corporations such as Estee Lauder. This can definitely give you some insight on what to expect from your customers going forward as Europe is usually a few years ahead of North America in terms of consumer trends, so as a professional skin care therapist & esthetician you’ll be able to really push the envelope in terms of your clients’ buying habits/needs.

What’s new in the North American spa markets? What new spa treatments, equipments and procedures are being incorporated into an esthetician’s life here in North America? What professional spa, skin care or waxing products are really taking the market by storm? Read and subscribe to Dermascope to live vicariously through other spa owners and estheticians who share their experiences and advice in business. This is definitely a must have in terms of your own continuing education and what I love about it is that it focuses on North America only and the content is very well done and always covers the spa products / treatments aspect as well as the business side of the spa industry.

Haha I bet you were expecting another super official spa industry related publication. Well no. This last one is simply a fantastic source for finding inspirational content and clips to build up your own social media avenues. It also provides a lot of Do-It-Yourself myths that can be debunked as I’m seriously willing to bet that lemon juice on the skin is truly doing anything helpful… It’s also a very good platform for sharing any of your own spa blogging material or cool skin care trends that you see happening in the skin care industry. This is also where I get all my inspirational quotes for our newsletters, AH and now you know my secret. ;) If you want more secrets to marketing your business make sure you
